Earlier this year, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that Butler, Bam Adebayo and Duncan Robinson were all under consideration to make Team USA’s men’s basketball team for the 2021 Olympics.
Today, Chiang reported that Adebayo is considering the chance to play in the Olympics. Chiang also said that Duncan Robinson’s impending free agency could complicate whether he plays in the Olympics.
For NBA fans, seeing their favorite players compete in the Olympics can bring mixed emotions. Any Miami Heat fan will recall Dwyane Wade’s electrifying run during the 2008 Beijing Olympics that marked his return to top-level play after two injury-plagued seasons. But what about the risk of injury? Would Adebayo’s off-season be better spent with Team USA or in a gym working on his jump shot?
